With the big two, you can see all sorts of options and be inspired by the choices...It's a good point, but for someone who doesn't know a great deal about cameras and is on a very limited budget, they may not think like that and Canon may struggle to sell this to them...I've owned both Nikon and Canon film SLRs in the past but don't agree with the argument that users should...

on the other hand, D60 does have ISO3200 which I don't recall 1000D having but I'm not sure how good is the noise control...Used D80 / D70 / D70s / D50 would be nice too but IMO certainly no the D40 / D40x / D60...

1000D Total Megapixal 10.5 compared with the 450D at 12.4mp...The 450D also retails at £434 inc...I'd suggest getting your hands on both of them in shop and have a play with them...On the 450d, I use this and the 10x zoom on the display to align the mount and focus the scope...
