IMO, the 4400F is much better than an "all-in-one...For the price, the quality of the 4400F is amazing...Scantips.com is perhaps the best place for you to start when trying to understand how to improve your scans...Anthony Nex is a professional photographer (if memory serves me right) and he uses a Canon 4400f - so all of those in the market for a new one might want...

if it don't fit, then i'd suggest you have the wrong type...this printer is really old but good...I had the same problem with my old Canon BJC-610...

I have both a Canon Multipass C5000 and a Canon BJC-4400 and both use the same ink tanks...If you don't use them frequently and use them up in less than ~3months forget being able to print...Finally Canon's willingness to write new driver sets for older model printers is non existent...

I need to scan my family pictures, mostly 3.5"x5" in size and in colour...If you're on a budget, I would strongly recommends this scanner...If your use if enlargements you may be disappointed with any flatbed scanner...

You have to tweak the colors, there are no perfect scanners, at least not in the $100 area...I recommend that you turn Off every "picture enhancing" option there is, including unsharp mask...Scanning quality isn't really that bad, you have to learn how to tweak and scan for best results...
