I’m no camera expert but from the perspective of a novice I have got a Canon 500d that I bought in mid May, the Nikon wasn’t available then so was not a consideration...However the review of the 500d on this site encouraged me to bite the bullet and go for this new model, especially as ‘Jessops’...in part as often you will get good advice if you are lucky...

This part of workflow is a habit for me, and I am prepared to put up with the Adobe Raw if it gets me better results......Below is the navigator for this thread, you can use this to view other messages in this thread...RAW processing...Adobe Camera Raw Vs Cannon DPP..: Canon EOS 1000D / 500D - 300D Forum: Digital Photography Review...

While there are many features and refinements of the T1i that I’m looking forward to leveraging, the high-ISO / low light performance is the one that yields an immediate benefit to me...The resulting images don’t look as good as those decoded by the Canon software as they seem to have considerably more noise...For now, I’ll shoot in JPG on the camera...
