Now there's the Nikon Coolpix 8800 coming out at the end of October...I've also read the battery life on the 8800 is not as great as the Pro 1...Should I purchase a Canon PowerShot Pro 1 and keep the flash I have or wait a little a get a Nikon Coolpix 8800, SB-600 Speedlight and sell my Canon 550ex flash...I returned the camera and waited for the Nikon 8800...

Personally I like Canon's rich picture color quality, while Coolpix 8800's 10X room is quite attractive too...The 8800 still has the lag and does write to the card as fast, which will become a problem if you take a few shots in sequence The 350 lens with anti-shake is an advantage - however, only goes to 35mm NOT 28mm without an adapter...goto a shop with both - nothing...

Priced right for those on a budget, scanning results beat the 8600 ...
