The two models that I've narrowed my search down to is the A450 and the SD600, both by Canon...Give me your ideas, the good and bad...First of all, the sensor size is quite small - even smaller than it is in the SD600 - and this will be a problem with image quality...Between the two you have listed, I think you would like the quality of the SD600 better, but I would ask you to consider...

I usually recommend that they buy a card reader...You can usually pick up USB 2.0 card reader for around $10 now...It's a problem with many of the Canon models, since the recovery utilities usually want them to appear as a removable drive...

There are options for setting the size of the movie (640x480, 320x240) and the frame rate (60fps, 30fps, 15fps...Check your users manual for "Fast Frame Rate", I forget the exact steps to set that option...The camera may have a hard limit on video length, or your memory card may only be fast enough to handle 1 minute of buffering, or your are in 60fps mode which is limited to 60 seconds...

I've been trying to decide which is the best value as an entry level DSLR among the 510, 520, Canon esi 450 and Nikon D80...claimed to have the best sensor in its class, decent viewfinder (important to me) and a 3" LCD but ergonomics flawed by poor handgrip, has no in body IS, ineffective dust removal system and a mediocre quality kit lens...dinosaur of the group with no dust removal...
