I am a camcorder virgin and have had a very good experience with the DC-40...The video quality is very good in low light (Auto mode) and the color is accurate...When I started doing my homework comparing prices, video quality and included features that wouldn't cost me extra, the Canon DC-40 had everything I was looking for without having to carry extra shoe accessories...

I have wanted to buy something that shoots straight to a DVD and my research said that the Canon DC40 was the one to go for...It does a good job shooting in low light conditions...The one thing that could be better is the battery capacity and secondly the battery position...
