I borrowed a neighbors Cannon GL1 digital video camera and made a recording...Do I need to somehow put the camera in a 1394 mode or something...Do I need to put do anything to the Cannon GL1 prior to connecting it...I have a vaio too, and I've had nothing but misery going from the computer back to the camera -- Which IS a Sony...

I own a GL-1 and it works ok ( other than the pixelation problem that I think was fixed by using a head cleaner tape) but I hate reading these boards because it sounds like the GL1 is a piece of junk...But as with the daily papers and TV news, only bad news gets press...I bought an analog sony cam over a decade ago and the thing still works, as any good piece of gear should...
