I have not had or used the small tape or disc based models of the sony or canon consumer models just what I have seen on camcorderinfo...bright outside light the contrast is a bit higher than I like while I prefer the smoother look of the FX1 but also I have not played with cinemode yet on the HF10 which might help...

After gathering information about the new Canon products that were just announced, I am more interested in the HF10 than any of the other new camcorders...The biggest advantage that I can see with this new camera is having no moving parts involved in video recording and thus no onboard noise that can find it's way into the videos...1920 x 1080 capture and recording The Canon...

So the guys here have been really helpful with my low light issues and I've managed to whittle it down to the final four...Canon HF100/HF10 vs Sony HDR-CX6EK / HDR-CX11E - or even the HDD ranges (if they are light enough...Any slight nudges anyone here can make one way or the other would really help me out...

While I’m not sure I had viewed purchasing a camcorder as strategically as Joe had, I was definitely on the same page...One, the HF10 was expected to cost close to $1100, or $100 more than my self-imposed limit...Which is a good thing, because now that we’re burning through diapers like they’re going out of style, I’m not sure when the opportunity for the next toy purchase...
