I narrowed my search to the Canon Vixia HG20 or HG21 and Sony HDR-SR11...I'm looking for the pros and cons of each and which product would work best with the Imac and i-Movie...I noticed that the HG20 does not have an eyepiece to look through while shoting video which seems like it could be a problem...

Bottom line...tape camcorders out, HDD on the way in, and this camera is leading the revolution...In conclusion, if you like to be creative, are interested in experimenting with 24p and want picture quality among the highest available this is an excellent choice...If 24p is not at all important to you the Sony HDR-SR11 is also a good option to consider...

Personally, I'd go with the HG20, The HG21 has a view finder and a bigger HD, but I don't think that makes up for the price difference...I've got a Canon HG20 and I was recording a live show in Chicago...The loud noise from the live performance can vibrate the drop sensor in the hard drive...If they allow you to record, then you're good to go with all that stuff...
