Good Luck, and please keep us posted on your progress with this repair...When I turn it on there is no image on the screen its just black, altho it is recording sound and it plays back what was previously on the tape...Your camera could be part of a national recall due to bad CCD sensors in the front end of this model...

The Canon MV5 supports progressive scan, but I don't know about the elura40...If your source is interlaced you should encode interlaced MPEG-2 for DVD (and don't use zigzag scanning in the encoder settings...they explicitly state that the MV3 features a "800.000 pixel RGB Progressive Scan CCD", wheras on the MV5 page there's nothing...As this information comes...

I am currently looking to upgrade my camcoder to one that is waterproof and came across this site with the reviews of my current MV5i MC...I owned a Hi8 Sony brick for many a year, and I gave it to my parents when my son came along, and purchased the Canon MV5i MC digital camcorder as I thought we could carry it around a lot easier...

Canon MV5iMC digital camcorder ? any good ? what else - The DVD Forums...I think one of my reasons was that the 120 in addition to being a good camcorder also takes a half decent still (1.5Mpix) which is good enough for me...seen it for 960-990 ish via pricerunner, but not sure whether these internet retailers are any good...
