I do some more checking and see...I spent some time at Fry?s Electronics today and found the same connectors (with center pin...I have some BNC connectors that mate other electronics I have (Radio scanners, etc.) so I assumed that was standard...

preferabbly i would like a camera with mini Dv tapes so that i will have a backup at least...It's a similar price and you won't have to do any capturing! The 170 will produce a better image, though the Canon has higher resolution imager...If i couldnt afford the panny would the canon still be a good option...whats better for shooting high speed mountain biking, always outdoors, sometimes in low light...

You will also need a tripod and you need to budget for a good one...But you can get perfectly good sound out of cameras like the XH A1 and the other 1/3" chip cameras with decent microphones properly placed and recording within the parameters of the system...It's not going to be as good as with a top quality double system setup, but neither is any other camera--point is, the camera can deliver good...

I already broke off that monitor and I haven't even gotten my hands on one yet...With a name like that you'd think you might have good information...So what do you recommend instead, we record our footage to SD card in AVCHD...
