I would second someone else's post that recommended looking into a solid state camcorder...don't feel too bad about this...Also a USB 2.0 drive is great for storing any type of file including video since the transfer speeds are real good but not sufficient for video scrubbing and playback...

These two are practically the same in video quality.The 930 is nice in that it has an external microphone jack, so I recommend you grab one of these if you want that feature...I believe the 950 can take still photos, but they usually aren't very good quality...I am on a budget (less than $350 if possible), and the Canon ZR950 seems really good, but there are currently no reviews on...

I believe that it is mostly due to AGC but it does not change a thing that when it is quite outside the gain will increase so drasticly that will pick up the engine noise...In my mind, this is not unexpected and not isolated to the ZR950...I'll take Bob's response a step further - in addition to an external mic (I don't think the ZR950 has a mic jack), manual audio control...
