Is there any site that will give me detailed info on how to do it...Personally, you can get a good, used old Cobra 148GTL (made by Uniden, origin in Taiwan or the Philippines) for a song and dance from ebay...And you are very correct when it come to soldering the board...

I have used a 148 in my vehicle for about two years now and I am totally convinced this is one of the best...Remember to get a pro tune, mic and good antenna...

if you are not getting anything it is more than likely a bad solder joint around the pll section...i got a cobra 148 from someone cheap the radio turns on but no transmit or recevie...could this be bad finals...A 148 will receive just fine with a bad final...

Cut everything out and if you take your time and do a really good job they look close to original...I get it to the desired size that I need, print it on good photo paper and then laminate...they're new but if their customer service is as good as some of their prices we could have great addition to the other sponsors here...
