EPSON V500 SUPPORT & TROUBLESHOOTING

I had finally, after much cost concsious agonoizing, decided to purchase an Epson V500, needing a good method for scanning 6x6 negs...Specs all looked the same to me and the scans from the MF negs seem to be pretty good...Yesterday I borrowed a Espon 4490 scannner and the result are very good...But I still want to know if the Epson V500 is sharper than the 4490...

I've narrowed my choice to either the Epson Perfection V500 or the Epson Perfection V700...I've studied the specs endlessly until word blindness sets in, and I suppose the 100% price disparity hints at significant differences between the two scanners, but can anyone state simply what it is chiefly that the V700 can produce that the V500 can't...I bought the V700...
