My older Epson is a quite good flatbed, but it doesn't get into the same ball park as the Minolta scanner, which is much superior...Anyway I have been very happy with the V700, if all you have is 35mm then go with a Nikon, with multiple formats the V700 is a good choice...I find with 35mm that it is as good as my Nikon LS2000 for sharpness and has much better with dynamic range...

I will be fluid mounting mine, as is done with drum scanners...I've only heard good thinks about the v700...I have used his medium format holders in the past, and have recently received his new work station, which comes supplied with 'masks' which you cut to the size of your film...

because a used 9000 on a usual day is about $1500 WITHOUT the glass...want to get at least good quality from an $800-$1000 scan with the 8000...will look great off a Fuji Frontier with a good person behind the desk...surprising seeing an LS40 almost at the 9000 level and ahead of...

I've narrowed my choice to either the Epson Perfection V500 or the Epson Perfection V700...I've studied the specs endlessly until word blindness sets in, and I suppose the 100% price disparity hints at significant differences between the two scanners, but can anyone state simply what it is chiefly that the V700 can produce that the V500 can't...I bought the V700...
