I start my runs from the same location every time and the 201 varies in its pickup of signal even though it's the same time, same location, same weather...The Garmin Foretrex 201 is a great product...I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a handy little GPS without all of the bells and whistles of the more expensive models...

If you decide to get the foretrex and use it in this fashon, keep this in mind...The power is a very small coax connector (good luck locating one), but the serial interface is a standard mini TRS (stereo) connector...Maybe someday Garmin will get interfacing right, but I'm not going to hold my breath...
