I am posting this thread in hopes to start a dialog with other astro 220 users seeking general and specific information...I have also started a project to redesign the antenna for the dc20 with the intention of improving signal strength and avoiding broken antenna, which seems to be the number one complaint with the unit...I purchased two Garmin Astro 220 GPS-Based...

Range is good for up to seven miles, and the tracking even covers the dog's direction so you can figure out where that delicious nubbin of turkey is hiding...The DC 30 is sold separately for $199.99 or for $649.99 as part of an Astro 220 combo, and should be available third-quarter 2008...i have the astro 220 dc20 combo and it works great i cant wait to see the improved...

So adding the chip would also be a good idea...I have four dogs, and the kids insist on letting them loose about once a day, so anything that helps them come home is good by me...I think that the callor sounds souunds like a really good idea except if someone steals your dog the first thing they do is throw away the callor...
