I had the opportunity to play with a Garmin Oregon 400t for a couple of weeks over the holidays...Overall the screen worked well but I did have some reservations...So, overall, I'd say it's a pretty neat gadget but it has lots of features that you can't really use as well as you should be able to and the cost for those features is still pretty high...

If the next update for the Triton 2000 doesn't make the unit usable, it is going to be returned for a second Colorado...If it is having problems, they will take care of you...If it was a Magellan, who are known for their sub standard customer service, I would definitely wait...

24,000 scale maps on a separate SD card ( the maps that ship with the Garmin are only 1:100,000 which is pretty good, but not enough for off-trail ) I decided to give it another chance...Neither is good, but you can mostly read it...I was using the Oregon 400t on horseback and the screen was sometimes very hard to see...

In my previous review I stated the Oregon wouldn't communicate with a PC for moving map work because it immediately goes into data storage mode...The sensitivity is very good and I can receive a signal with the GPS in the case while also in a pack pocket...Unit works good and looks good, but is VERY hard to see outdoors...

Are you trying to calculate a road route without the City Navigator (auto) maps loaded...You would want to purchase the "microSD data card, City Navigator NT, North America" product for auto routing...When I put a destination in, it says, calculating them jumps to a screen that says there are no roads near by the start point...
