Any Garmin users report on how accurate the 405 altitude is...or is it the same as the 305 (i.e not very good...

I personally think the "deficiencies" of the 405 (as compared to the 305) have been way overblown...I do generally use the 305's max 4 fields for training runs, so being limited to three on the 405 would be a small pain...Also, the spec sheet that Trent posted clearly shows that the 405 is notably smaller and lighter than the 305...They market the 405 as a...

405 - Its less than 10-seconds to switch the watch between biking and running modes, which isn't too long for a brick but can be a hassle in T2 or trying to do it while you are already running...The 305 has some interesting multisport options...It would just be a mess in the program...

If you’re a runner or walker, you're going to like the way this new Forerunner 405 ($300) measures and records your speed, distance, elevation and even heart rate...It takes a bit for the watch to find its satellites but once that's done you are good to go...

I bet they will all have Garmin 405 on them during the half marathon tomorrow...The do not recommend to submerge it for more than 30 minutes so apart from battery life of about 8 hours for training mode it may be a bad idea to swim with it in long course tri where your swim exceeds the 30 minutes they claim...I also bought the cadence sensor, which I highly recommend...I might buy a 305...
