I would go with the dv7 because it has two hard drives and a normal sized number pad...the latter is more suited for digital media like widescreen tv shows and such, which will fill the screen and not have the flanking black bars...the dv7 does have an extra hard drive bay if that is a concern...

much nicer display for that money...I was deciding between both an HP HDX 16 and an ASUS N61Vg-X1...The difference I wanted either 18.4 or 17.3 screen sizes...

I also have a HP HDX 16 with the same specs as PlutoDelic, but I'm fairly new to the OSX86 scene...Overall, I use + would recommend "XxX 10.5.6" release from TPB if sleep is not important to you, but PM me if you want more detail...regarding your machine, good news and slightly ungood, but overall the hardware seems suited to OSx86...
