I just want to post so that no one makes the same mistake I just did...It turns out that the Kenwood VR-5090 is actually controlled via RF (and only RF - unless you happened to know it was previously and happened to buy an accessory meant for controlling the Receiver from another room - the Kenwood IR-9991...So just because a device is in the database - don't trust that...

No Dolby Digital or DTS.It does this on both players { Toshiba and Sony} that I have connected...If its going belly up, Please recommend a Good Midrange receiver...After playing with the reciever for several minutes, pressing the listen button and the input mode, it works again until I stop the movie...

Check it out at a shop that will let you give it a good test drive...Sound is excellent, switching is good, video is very good...Unfortunately, I have never heard it and other than looking at specs on a website, I cannot say weather it is a good unit or not...

I've joined the digital world, Kenwood Sovereign VR-5090...for years, my Kenwood Sovereign VR-5090 would cut out for about 2 seconds every few hours, every few days (particularly with the "CD1" input...I just dropped it off at a Kenwood Certified business here on Chicago this past Saturday...At what price can I get something on the market...

now all you need is that ultra sweet entre entertainment hub......Hasn't played much with it but so far i like it except that the remote is not good and no OSD...Tax refund goes to this one , may be my bonus check for entre...
