I know this is upsetting to you, but this is an opportunity to stress two...I have a Kodak DC4800 that I purchased about 2 years ago...I have a Kodak DC4800 that I purchased about 2 years ago...

iPhoto and Kodak DC4800 problem [Archive] - The macosxhints Forums...I found having the camera connected and turned on at boot time helped, but that didn't even work this time...I'm guessing that since iPhoto uses the Image Capture API for connection, it's some sort of USB driver issue...

Thanks for all your comments, I still havent decided on a DC4800 or one of the Olympus models...I read on the web today that Kodak have introduced the new DC4800...I know the Oly is probably the better choice, however I have read that once you add the WA lens the flash dosn't perform so good, therefore I am still not sure which camera to choose...
