Mercedes, I've briefly played with a V1233...If you have to start with a pocket camera, this is as good a first camera as you'll find...So, by all means, go out and start shooting with your V1233...But save your money for the inevitable purchase of a used DSLR (a Nikon D50 would be a good place to start) that will give you infinitely more control over your images...
