Decided upon the LGGSA-4120B, as it is pretty speedy on the old read/write stats, is Dual-Format and is Dual-Layer compatible, and so 'future-proofed' for a shortwhile...I'm not a 'newbie' to backing up xbox games, as I've been using a friend's PC & burner, fairly often for this purpose...Oh and the other thing, the site I got the drive from listed...
i thought of buying this one some months ago, but it seems to produce poor quality with some rewritables...anyway i would recommend the 'next generation' of dvd burners with 16x dvd+/-r and 4x dual layer (i ordered nec nd-3500a...at least single layer should work fine with any mainstream dvd burner...
As far as I can tell, no review site has received a Plextor 712a...Also, LG has been doing pretty good in C't's testing lately too, which lends a lot of credibility to the newer 4120B...So far, the only thing that I believe the Plextor 712a will have over the LG4120B is greater support for DVD+Rs at 12x, and I'm not sure if LG supports P-CAV writing,...
