The optical drive is really useful too...It's powerful and the build quality is good...I need it for near identical purposes too (although mine doesn't need to be powerful enough to run Illustrator...

I am worried it is Burned out some how...Then it got worse as I noticed that it did it while I was using it...I requested support by the web and in no time (during late at night) a Lenovo support representative called me and did a rundown of the system...
