get the chip and put it in, then you should have chart detail close to that of a paper chart plus in most cases additional info like marinas, tides, currents, roads and aerial pics...I have a 522 with the Nautic Path chart...I bought the Navionics Gold chip for my Lowrance 5300C...

Took it in to interstate batteries and they said it was bad...Now that I have a good battery the unit is working fine...I would recommend not to leave it in extreme cold temps for long periods of time just for safety...
