Peter, Nikon designs the D3 sensor, and fabs it somewhere else, probably by Sony, but not necessarily...I think that's a good idea personally...Note the A900 will be more comparable to a FF D300 than a D3 or D3X, good but basic pro-level body without the size, all-out performance or indestructibility of a single-digit Nikon...Very high resolution though, but likely inferior...

The Nikon D3 simply cannot approach this level of detail, so if resolution is what floats your boat, then the EOS 1DsM3 is your camera...But the overall visual impact (color, contrast and lifelike rendition) simply does not match that of the Nikon D3...By “large and heavy” I mean cameras like the Nikon D3 or Canon’s 1Ds Mark III...the amount...
