Nikon recently introduced two new members for its P for Performance series Coolpix point-and-shoot digicams...Sometimes a sneaker-net system of taking out your SD card and plugging it into a PC, reader or printer is simple enough for day-to-day needs...Do you have an opinion on this product...

so I'm wondering if there is any reason to choose the slightly more expensive, newer P4, other than the VR technology...The 7900 seems much more comfortable to hold to me, and the detail in close-ups/macros a little better in sample pics I've seen around the Web...

I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix P4 to replace my Nikon Coolpix 4200...I have to say I'm struggling a bit with this camera...I'm seriously considering going back to my 4200 and relegating the P4 to my holiday snap camera...I'm using a decentish tripod (A Feisol carbonfibre) with a 701RC2 head and Pentax 65mm ED scope with a 32X eyepiece with decent eye relief...

After doing a fair amount of research, I...I have put this camera through it's paces and come to the conclusion that this is one of the best compact cameras you can own...However, I thought it's time to upgrade to the 8 mega pixel world, and with a smaller, more compact design than a 4040 (fyi 4040 is a semi-pro, as I was taking some photo classes awhile back...
