These two are really similar as far as price and such with some differences, but from a camera enthusiast point of view which one would you pick and why...I am not concerned about the price but the quality OVERALL...

My point & shoot is an old Canon Powershot A80! I haven't kept up-to-date on the newer Powershot cameras...Plus, they have the interchangable lenses! Nikons are good but a lot more costly for EVERYTHING! Stick with Canon...You mentioned two good ones there so go with whichever one you like the best and has the most options that you'll need...
