Being a college student, the two TVs I'm deciding between are the L37 and the 237T, both made by off-brand companies...Consumer Reports rated the 237T the best in the 37 inch class, while PC World rated the L37 as best...Again, the Olevia at Target is the 537, not the 237, and has had very high reviews...

I have seen comments both ways on this issue...I have done some researching and see a lot of people having this same problem with their Olevia TVs, yet this was the "first" they have heard about it...That said, I have heard that Olevia support is even MORE unhelpful than Tivo support on this issue, if that's possible! They make some sort of special universal remote themselves...

I'm happy to report that I ended up with the redesigned version of the 237T, with (undocumented) dual HDMI inputs, which the company appears to have begun phasing into the retail channel over the summer...But, for example, my unit happily came with no bad pixels, which are a 'bin 2' panel downgrade that you might expect with an entry-level, cost-pressured LCD...I found this article...
