Newbie getting Onkyo 607 advise of speakers - Home Theater Forum Community

I think you're confused about the "A" and "B" mains...It looks like very limited sound is sent to the "front high" speakers, so the old speakers might be OK for that, but I don't think they would make good back speakers and would not integrate very well with a decent new 5.1 package...Can I use my old Panasonic sc-ht820v speakers in this system along with the 5.1 speakers you guys recommend...

I set it up for him this weekend...If in doubt, grab the Yammy! A good friend of mine just got the V863 Yammy and it is sweet...Plus I don't know if I trust Onkyo quality anymore after their blue dot problem with their last generation of receivers and I really do not want to spend $600 on a receiver that will not pass through HDMI video quality perfectly either...
