To include any portion of the post in your response, highlight the desired text and hit the "Q" key...Unfortunately, your particular camera is simply a right royal pain in the neck to operate...If you plan to do any serious shooting -- and you plan to use the audio -- and you don't want spend all day setting levels, you might want to think about a different camera...

I am considering the Panasonic DVC30 but am concerned about the audio input...Any reason why I shouldn't do this (over a new DVC30...Worth a few hundred more than a new DVC30...As for value, the 100 is certainly the better value by far with its larger CCD's and better quality...

If you were shooting both cameras side-by-side you "might" be able to go "haha! that one has 15% higher signal to noise ratio!! But I doubt it...Weather in Hilo is not so bad, it's the volcano vog that is driving everyone nuts...It is really bad and people with respiratory problems are heading fro the emergency room...
