also, if I try to compress a DVD onto a single layer the DVD simply skips to the end...this is one of the friendliest communities around and we value our new members...Should I change software or am I doing something wrong in the burning process...

Recently I upgraded from the Philips 642/37 to Panasonic DVD-S53 mainly because of the S53's support for DL (dual-layer) discs...First, I've been trying to find out what chip the DVD-S53 uses without any success...The main concern is that when I use WinMM to add titles before and after the video is where the problem lies...Reading some of the forum...

The graininess on some movies is part of the production values or by the Director's intent...This being said, when I played other movies- Platoon, Fargo, and Children of the Corn- the picture was very good...The Panasonic was horrid! Every DVD looks good on the Sony...

The performance seems excellent although with my panasonic LCD TV I must say there is not that big a difference between S-video and HDMI upconvert--This may be a good thing since the picture is very clear with no artifacts...and the picture quality is very good...I highly recommended ordering from this seller...
