You can control the extent of distortion by setting the PRE to high or low within the range of 7-10...My guitar is an EpI and that my pick ups are loose...button and set the PRE knob of the LEAD all the way to 9 or 10...

The tone is surprisingly good for an amp of its size...A practice bass amp with big-time tone...I went to the store prepared to pay more, but was so impressed with this little amp I got it instead...
