The only difference in the Rockmaster and XXX are a few plate load resistor differences from 100k to 150k...The mods I did to the Rockmaster clean section were very good and didn't really change the tone but gave it more amplitude and punch...The Rockmaster and XXX I believe or identical...btw the silva micas are great for a smooth tone stack cap but if you play with more grit...
A while back I heard that PeaveyRockmaster preamp sounds like 5150/6505...Two months ago I had a chance to do a demo session with 6505...After doing so I reamped the DI tracks through Rockmaster and tried to match the sound by using Rockmaster's controls...What I learned from this experiment was that Rockmaster can sound very good with the right EQ...

The distortion is good but as I said it takes some tweaking to get a good tone...Rythm tone is good with lots of chunk and clarity, the Lead is creamy and smooth not at all like when I used the pedal...I could get good slayerish sounds but also some brutal too...
