Bad power supply, get it fixed under warranty (either your extended warranty if youhave one, or 1-800-samsung...During stand-by (after power off for a few hours), the television makes a slightly audible high pitch sound, kinda like a power supply going bad sound...In general, the television is quite good; I will call Samsung again to schedule service...

After what is problably the most grueling week of my life, i finally set up my entertainment center on Sunday night...I traded it in and walked out with the (HL-S5687W) Samsung...However as finiky as i am, i can now OFFICIALLY say that i am happy with my set and would totally recommend the samsung over any other DLP projection set...

I have a PS3 as my blu-ray player, A denon 987 receiver, and the 1080p samsung hl-s5687W...I have been trying to get my optimal settings correct and it seems like i've run into a problem...I decided to go to the ps3 bluray disc settings and saw the 1080p 24hz setting...

and how important is the HDMI cable itself...if you have a picture and you're not getting "sparklies" from a poor connection, then the picture is as good as it'll get with that connection...Those are the good ol' compression artifacts you are seeing...
