I recognize that Samsung is well regarded, but I didn't see any 54" in their lineup and most places have the 58"b650 for $2500...So my request is that people weigh in with the real pros and cons of each, if the use is as described above - a normal den watching movies and cable tv in normal lighting...

I just finished my first week with my 58b650 and I'm loving everything about it except some minor buzzing...Colors are just wonderful and blacks are great especially given my windowed living room...I wanted to buy the 58v10 initially but Panasonic always makes us wait until end of summer to roll out their 58"/65" versions of these sets...

Just stay out of the stores and don't look at the new 65" plasmas! Hope that salesman told you about the recommended break-in procedures for plasma...At 1080p resolution, Panasonic recommends a viewing distance of 6.5' on a 50" screen...I know that Pioneer is considered the king of plasma sets, but my seating position is a good thirteen feet from where the TV will reside...
