a hard wired unit will always sound better than the fm mod, you should have no anti theft problems as long as you don't disconnect power from the radio...I have considered hardwiring the unit, but removing my radio to attach the adapter to do so seems risky with my anti-theft device...my car is like that too, it tunes stations around town really well but when i use fm mod stuff like with my IPOD it...

It's all as-new and the Sirius unit has only been used for about 5 months...pic does not show pass thru or custom wiring for VW interface...This will provide direct audio into your late model VW radio, no FM modulator or line out problems...
They sent a Wired FM Modulator Relay cable for free...So I had the choice between bad sound and worse sound...The 3sixty.2 is still at least double that - and I am not sure I need time correction in such a small space...
The Stratus is a good entry-level radio...Good luck if you have to deal with them...Problem is they are only good towards Sirius hardware and cannot be used for subscriptions...
