I've heard some equally bad stuff about both, Sony and Canon DV cameras...Is the dead pixel often experienced with the older model of the XL1S (XL1), or is it quite common with all of Canon's camcorders...I've heard Sony camcorders have bad audio recording (a lot of hissing) on certain models and if they are present in the PD150...I can't speak for the XL1/XL1S...

Both these cameras will be a few years old now (I'm guessing you mean the DVX-100) but at least the PD comes with an hours meter (in the menu) so you can see how many tapes it's been through and how many hours the machine has run...If you saw any war footage out of Iraq you'd always see a PD150 in the background, and not a Panasonic in sight...What actually happened is that i turned...

It is in excellent condition and includes a low-time Sony PD150 DVCAM camcorder...This rig cost me over $15,500, will let it go to a good home for $9,900...
