SONY DSR-PD170 SUPPORT & TROUBLESHOOTING

I can't decide to go for the VX2100 or the PD-170...What are some good NTSC monitors we can buy we will need three...DVCam will eat up a 60 minute mini-DV tape in about 42-43 minutes, but the signal quality is substantially better than anything the VX 'pro-sumer' camera will do at 60 minutes on the same tape...Also, I believe the PD-170 uses the new higher resolution 1/3" CCD array (3 chip...

A GREAT camera for the price and good quality too! I have used this camera for shooting b-roll type stuff out in the HOT Arizona desert with dust and heat both being a huge factor on camera performance...Someone recommended the PD170 to me because of its price, 3 CCDs, and its audio capabilities...I'm planning on getting it from B&H Photo, unless I can find it from a good store with...

but if you are shooting HD footage right now I would recommend one thing...I still use my PD170 from time to time, for corporate shoots where they want 4X3 SD...But even when I used the PD170's/VX2100's exclusively, I still used an on camera light...which doen't happen with the pd170...Is it as good as the pd170 in low light...

Tony, did it pan out that there was simular, or less, niose in the PD170 images at the same gain...Maybe Panasonic has refined it's CCD since release, like Sony did with the PD-170...I agree with DRDV's comments, full captured frames would be good, but also a black background around the charts, as it is hard to compare because of the bright white border causing my pupil to contract...Great...

The week after I buy a PD-150 (which I love) Sony announce a PD-170 at IBC in Amsterdam...Why didn't sony put 16:9 chips in the PD-170...Having handled a DSR-PD170P "in the flesh" I have to say that it really is extremely similar to the DSR-PD150P in every way...
