I ended up getting the Sony DVD changer, DVD-NC655P from hifi.com...I know the Sony DVP-700P and DVP-NS715P both will work, but I can get the DVP-NS315 for about $65 less...Just tested it and it plays tydvds on DVD-R and DVD+RW beautifully...

also, if there is anyway to make it play svcd's...This DVD player came with my Sony HT-1700D system..anyone know if there is a way to simply modify so it can play Pal and NTSC encoded discs...Remote Central reserves the right to remove or modify any post that is deemed inappropriate...

I've had my DVP-NS315 for several years and it has worked perfectly...I am not sure if it is just a bum player in a large lot of exceptional ones, or Sony does not make as good products anymore...Just be careful and make sure you have a warranty when you purchase one and Good Luck...I also have many concert DVD's, which look and sound great through my very good stereo system...
