btw, i tried the hc7 with vegas (capture, edit and output to camera works perfectly...then i tried one of my m10u's from work and bingo...just took the plunge into hdv in my home studio considering i've been cutting it at work for over a year now...

Just Cancelled my Sony HDR-HC7 Order - Pheww - AVS Forum
i guess everyone is using HC3 as a reference since it had a good low light performance...It's gimmicky because Sony will put that into a camcorder as a stop gap for not so good lowlight performance...If night vision is good enough for Paris Hilton's home videos then it is good enough for me...

Sony HDR-HC7E drop frame tc issue : Sony DV
When I mark "in" and "out" points and try to batch capture clips I get the message that the tc is drop frame and therefore not able to be digitised...Are there any settings within the camera that can be changed to make the tc generation non drop frame............To include any portion of the post in your response, highlight the desired text and hit the "Q" key...
