Good color correction and good sound help a lot to lessen your audience's perception of the noise, anyway...The HDV compressor will work to accommodate the extra "detail" of the noise, and the overall image quality may drop...It is not good in low light -- if you're going to be shooting a lot of plays or something, try looking at the EX-1 or PD-170...

The Sony HVR-A1E looks to be a cheaper version of Sony HVR-Z1E but is it just the £2,000 price difference that it lacks in...Apprently it is not as good as the HVR-Z1E but aslong as it is the same or better than my Canon mv830i thats ok...

I've been following the many threads on wireless UHF lavs with great interest and it seems that for a $500 system (my budget) the Senn Evolution G2 100, Sony UWP C1 or ATW 1811 are all considered quite good for the price...The AT is also recommended but it takes 6 AA batteries (vs...2) and is much heavier than the others (I would be using this on a Sony HVR A1U, which...

Like many here, I have been debating between the HC1 and the A1...They have a $500 rebate on the HVR-A1U when bought from an authorized dealer...It will be interesting to see if there is a new model announced this spring...
