This is good the camera does 1080 interlaced, but I still doubt it goes above 720 progressive...And if this camera does 24p and has good light sensitivity, I would seriously think of buying it...Light sensitivity will be bad for sure, the reason is the announced infrared projector, therefore non-projector sensitivity will be no less than 4 lux, and most probably - 6-7 lux...

The camera will auto down convert...When you buy one it'll probably be formatted to use with a PC; you'll probably need to reformat it as 'Mac OS Extended' to make it work with iMovie...On an older, slow Mac, this conversion may make importing up to 4x as long as importing normal DV...

I'm not familiar with the Sony HVR HD1000U, but I'd be curious what anyone else has to say about it...However, the Sony HD1000U suffers from having the "pro" features purposely stripped to keep the price low...The HD1000U has a programmable ring located on the lens barrel...The next level up of cameras (Canon XH-A1, Sony Z1U, Panasonic...

If the LCD screen and viewfinder are decent quality, and there's at least some manual control (albeit menu driven), this could be a viable option for me, at least as a back-up camera...Added a horse shoe and the end of the hander for DR60 good idea...Another factor is how good it is in low-light (comparable with or a little better than the HC7...
