This code is the Nec format Device-69, Sub-Device-188, Command 18...The caveat is however you may find a code that you may not want like factory reset...I had also thought of the workaround you mention, but it comes unstuck when there is no disk in the tray...

It appears merely as the result of an R/RW writing error caused on bad media...That problem aside, it is hard to fault the Toshiba DR1...Using the RAM timeslip feature is excellent and in operation the DR1 looks very pretty with all 5 of it's different coloured LEDs illuminated (owners will know what I mean...Oh well, I returned the unit to "The Good Guys" to exchange for another...

Apparently it's very hard to crack and as far as I know no one's done so yet...Richer sounds are doing them for £278 looks like a bargain...I think the only thing that's worth commenting on is that despite what the advert says, RS are unlikely to be able to supply a multi-region model...
