received my dvr620---been hooking-up audio/video equipment for almost 50 years--this thing was dead out of the box----a few lights lit---and nothing-----had the pleasure of calling---will say once connected toshiba rep was compitent...I have had this for a short while...Overall this is a nice machine and can save you a lot of money compared to having the VHS tapes professionally copied to DVD...

If your Toshiba is a combo they're isn't anything you can do other than try another brand...I guess I'll have to tell the person the bad news...Shoot! I do have one of those $30 convertors too but yeah there's no way to have it intervene with a signal within the same box...
