I have seen the new Toshiba RD-XS34 advertised, what I want to know is can you record on HDD and watch a DVD and vice versa...Any other DVD/HDD you can recommend at around £300...What is the Toshiba like for programming to record a TV show...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...The Toshiba RD-XS34 looks good and I like its ability to create chapter markers with thumbnails in addition to titles with thumbnails...The older Toshiba RD-XS32 had a black level problem in which black parts on the DVD would look washed out...

However, I think the Toshiba picture quality is still very good, (IMHO...The disks I finalized and played back on my DVD players, a JVC , a Mintek 1600 and a Sony, didn?t seem to have a problem and the picture looked very good using a 61? Pioneer projection screen...If you want an easy, good quality way to record stuff to DVD with the convenience of a 160GB hard drive to store video then get...
