It's locked up 2 or 3 times and it loses programming for shows I want to record sometimes but all in all it's a good box to archive shows to DVD...Though it may be my DVD drive going bad, DVD-RAMs have been *unreliable* for me in the past few months...Though it may be my DVD drive going bad, DVD-RAMs have been *unreliable* for me in the past few months...

Between my list of the service manual pdf file names, Willie G's link, and nextoo's posts in that thread, along with good old cut and paste, here are the service manual links...I just backed up my unit by buying the recommended Maxtor 4R160L0 and the LG GSA-H10L...So far, other than it being a little finicky on occasion with DVDs being unusable, I haven't had any issues with the XS54...

Maybe part of the problem is my cable provider, who doesn't list program details more than about 30 hours ahead...Instead you have to use the TV Guide listings and find the show you want recorded...You should confirm all information before relying on it...

So I connected my RD-XS54 to my desktop PC that still has the older Microsoft browser (IE-6) installed...So to network the RD-XS54 you need to use Microsoft IE-6, Netscape, or Foxfire as your browser...I do recommend you to get the D link DI634M router is great, specially if you have vOIP...

Has any purchased or seen one of the new Toshiba RD-XS54 DVD recorders yet...I'm intrigued by the 250GB hard drive, the Ethernet port, and the ability to set a recording via e-mail...
