I'm an enthusiast, not an audiophile, and it's no joke how good this unit sounds, even ot somebody who's ears aren't really trained yet...I am starting to see that the modded 3950 may not be quite as good as the stock 3960...The opamp wasn't too bad after I was told exactly how to do it although I let the other person finish the job...
I have a chance to pick up a Toshiba3960 tomorrow for a very good price...The 3960 will go in my bedroom on a 20" Wega if I get it...However, the main thing with the 3960 is its Redbook audio CD sound quality...If you're needing a spare player, and can get it for cheap (ive seen them sell for like $45 at Amazon), i'd definitely recommend it...
