I bought the XD-E500 on the last business day of Circuit City, back in January 2009...I just got less than ten minutes play on one DVD, and two other newish DVDs now report as "bad," so I guess I got seven months of light use out of it...Now most of the newer reviews point out sudden death of the unit after weeks to a few months of good to great perfomance...
